It is Case 2 in the Condon Report and is there conceded to be unexplained. This case will illustrate, in significant ways, the following points: It also illustrates the point that the actual levels of investigation were entirely inadequate in even as unexplainable and involved cases as this one.
My discussion of this case will be based upon the page Bluebook case- file, plus certain other information presented on it in the Condon Report. None of the names of military personnel involved are given in the Condon Report. Witness names, dates, and locales are deleted from all of the main group of cases in that Report, seriously impeding independent scientific check of case materials. I secured copies of the case-file from Bluebook, but all names of military personnel involved in the incident were cut out of the Xerox copies prior to releasing the material to me.

The precise timing for their final withdrawal from RAF Mildenhall has still to be determined, but it is expected to correspond with the period in which the US plan to increase their presence at the adjacent Lakenheath base which will be home to the first European squadron of US F s.
It is an indication of the strength of our continuing shared commitment to transatlantic security. However, we recognise that such changes are sometimes necessary. With this deep history in mind, news of the proposed closure of Mildenhall will come as a shock to many.

Before the Air Force set up shop at Lakenheath more than 60 years ago, it was home to the Anglo-Saxons — ancient peoples who inhabited the south and east of the country from the early fifth century through the Norman conquest of Toiling alongside a construction crew that rebuilt the traffic circle on the northside of the base in August, a team of British archaeologists dug up three Anglo-Saxon graves dating to between and The graves held the remains of two men with spearheads and a woman buried with jewelry, broaches and wrist clasps.
While the contents of the graves are significant, the real boon was that archaeologists can now more clearly define the perimeter of the entire burial site at Lakenheath, Caruth said. Other ancient artifacts have been unearthed over the years at Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall — hot spots for archaeological digs thanks to the chalky soil that helps preserve artifacts by preventing acid erosion.
Suffolk is also home to several other large Anglo-Saxon settlements, including West Stow and Lackland Lakes, just a few miles from the two bases, Caruth said. Previous searches have revealed graves, bones and implements from 10, years ago, the Neolithic period, the Bronze and Iron ages, and from Roman and Saxham settlements and burials, according to British and American officials. Many times, Caruth said, the archaeologists can determine where artifacts should be buried. This helps the coordination process with base officials, but “we look at everything.
Archaeologists believe a batch of medieval ruins could be located underneath the control tower on the flight line and that a 3, year-old burial is likely sitting below the ground near a planned housing area. Both of those archaeological projects are likely to get under way in the next year, Southgate said.
