I took it apart and cleaned it up and refinished the stock. It turned out pretty nice. I mounted a Tasco 3 X 9 scope on it and it works great. It is clearly marked Targetmaster, Model on the barrel.

Remington factory trigger, reworked and set to 2. In fact, it was news to us. So, a willing SC subscriber was good enough to provide his rifle for evaluation once Tac-Ops finished their work to the rifle. We were very curious to take a look at the rifle and see just what work was done, what features were added, and most importantly, how well the rifle performed! The concept is not new, as there are several other well known rifle and barrel makers that offer the same type of service.
So is making it more accurate enough to warrant the money and rework?
Tweet There have been reports of accidental discharges from Remington Model firearms over the years. Enough that many firearms experts clearly warned that the rifles were not drop safe and should not be stored loaded. However, Remington never made a move to remedy the issue until now. According to a release on the Remington website, they are now recalling certain Remington and Model 7 rifles that were manufactured between May and April with X Mark Pro triggers.
Eight years worth of firearms is a pretty massive recall. Here is some info from the Remington site:
Jul 04, · Hello iagbarrb, I want to also congratulate you! I have owned several Remington ‘s over the years and my first was a 12 gauge Wingmaster with a high polish blue finish and a very lovely figured walnut stock and fore end.
The amount of paperwork and background checks I had to go thru was ridiculous. But, this is California. Reply Link Ray October 24, , Got a different stock, a folding pistol grip one. Straighter would have been better, or even more downward, pistol grip style. Either of those two ways would have straightened out my wrist. Worst bend ever, for me, and the original grip seemed too short, as well as the length of pull.

The first concern was whether a rifle this short could accurately perform in a sniper role. Then an old adage came to mind: Accuracy is not a result of the barrel length, but rather the quality of its manufacturing process. The short, heavy, fluted barrel balanced well. The Leupold optics were, as usual, crystal clear. With the initial impressions out of the way, the real proof would come later at the range.

By Chuck Hawks Rem. Illustration courtesy of Remington Arms Co. The Remington Model series is the all-time best selling line of bolt action sporting rifles in the world. They were an immediate hit when introduced in and have never looked back. The Model has also become the favored action of many custom rifle builders. The Model action was designed for ease of manufacture, given the manufacturing technology of the early ‘s, and uses a round action machined from bar stock, a plunger ejector in the bolt face and a sort of circlip in the bolt face that snaps over the rim of a chambered cartridge to extract the fired brass.
The bolt face is recessed to enclose the base of the cartridge, which is also surrounded by the chamber end of the barrel and the front receiver ring. The cartridge head is thus circled by three rings of steel, much as with the Weatherby Mark V action, and this fact was not overlooked by the Remington advertising department. Traditionalists considered these cost cutting innovations “cheap,” but the customers responded in droves to the undeniable good looks of the Model ADL and BDL rifles themselves.

More than one commenter on that older article said that even though they owned a Remington rifle of a listed model containing a trigger connector, Remington told them that their rifle was not affected. So if you have a Remington , you might as well visit the site and go through the process. I did, and I was given two options: FYI, it appears that the date for final approval will be February 14,
